Rwanda Part 1- The Rainforest

Summer 2015 was the greatest time of my life.

After completing my GCSEs, I decided that I wanted see more of the world (deep) so in June I went travelling to Rwanda for 3 weeks to see my dad as he lives there.

I'm going to post all about what I got up to, but I'm going to do it in parts because there is a LOT of photos..

Anyways first of all I thought  I'd talk and show you my exploration of Nyungwe Forest which was absolutely AMAZINGGGG.

Rwanda is really focusing on improving their tourism throughout the country. For example they recently built a sky scraper in the Capital which contains a super market, clothes shops and even an Apple Store and the countries only cinema!

The progression and development of tourism has meant that the road running through the rain-forest has been completely redone so that it is smooth and easy to travel to across to other parts of Rwanda.

We stayed at this super cheap and amazing place called 'Peace Guest House' which was so cute with traditional African Bungalows and a stunning view of Lake Kivu. I felt very safe, the people were friendly and the food was great- they even made pancakes!!

This is the road through the rain-forest I was talking about- here you can see the last part being finished.

About to go on a crazy canopy walk above the tops of the trees- one of the best but scariest experiences of my life..

 Gulp...

IT WAS SO FUN I WANT TO DO IT AGAIN

The next adventure was chimpanzee tracking!!!!

This was another unforgettable experience seeing such amazign creatures in their natural habitat. I still can't believe we saw them. Definitely worth getting up at 4am for!!

Here you can see the tea plantations on the edge of the forest. It was so amazing to see literally hundreds of women out picking tea leaves as we drove through into the trees.

It's now January 7th 2016 (My 17th birthday actually) and I'm going to really try this year to post more content! 2015 was the best year of my life and I wish I'd shared more of it on 'Miyyi' to look back on.

Thanks whoever is still reading- We've actually nearly hit 15,000 page views which is pretty amazing considering I haven't posted in around 8 months (oops)

Rwanda is a truly beautiful place.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and happy new year!! What are your new years resolutions?

Year 11 Prom Outfit

I had my year 11 leavers prom on Friday which was all very exciting. Here are some pictures..

I was wearing a navy blue Vera Wang dress. What?! Vera Wang?! Yes crazy times, I felt like a little princess. I found this gem when I went down to Essex and it was super reduced my friends, bargain of the year.

My sparkly shoes were from Newlook, my necklace was from River Island, my earrings were a gift and my bag was from Amazon!

I'm still recovering from the occurrences of after prom but luckily it's half term now, which is the reason why there's been another post so quickly after the last one. You guys are so lucky..

Anyways prom was great fun and I love an excuse to dress up fancy; I've decided I'm going to go to lots of posh balls and dinner parties when I'm older just so I can wear swishy long dresses all the time.

Any of you got your proms this year? What's your dress like? Or do you not have a prom? Let me know in the comments:))

Keeping Fit Whilst Revising

So right now I'm right in the middle of the hell that is GCSE exams. As of today today I have done 13/25 exams which is definitely progress..

Because of this, and the fact that I am doing LOTS more musical things, I'm no longer doing nearly as much exercise as before year 11. I still have my trusty trampolines in the garden which I have no shame bouncing on during revision breaks (not even joking, back-flips and seat-drops are great for your abs) but I've recently rediscovered my love for running to help keep me fit.

Ok so I know lots of you are probably thinking of clicking off of this post after the mention of running but please stay with me, there's some pretty pictures soon I promise.

Anyway, during revision, when I can feel myself being on the brink of mental breakdown after attempting to do a chemistry past paper, going out for an evening jog really does clear the brain. Ready for more learning and revision when I get back, yay.

But you don't even have to do like hardcore physical exercise, just a light 10 minute jog with a little walk back is great!

I have been doing a stunning 5k run 2 or 3 times a week during revision breaks in this AMAZING bird nature reserve place. It's really close to where I live and is an abandoned open cast coal mine that has filled with water so it has like bigillions of birds everywhere.

Plot twist I don't actually go running, I just take pretty pictures and selfies
I think the reason why people hate running so much is because they associate it with running along the side of the road where people driving by can watch you and your feet hurt afterwards and you get all sweaty and gross. But don't let this put you off! Find a super pretty park that's got soft land that means that you'll have nice things to look at and less people looking at you as well as the soft ground preventing foot problems- which aren't great.

Anyway I just thought I'd let you all know about my running adventures..

In other news my bass exploded spectacularly last Friday after orchestra rehearsal which means I'm having to use a spare one whilst mine's being repaired:((((

Broken double Bass
Pray for Milly's bass
(Side note- that cool person next to the bass is Scott the violinist and he didn't break it)
How's everyone's exams going?

Anyway it was my last day at school yesterday and I've got prom tonight so I best go get ready

Mockingjay is out in 8 Days!!!!

Sorry I've been rubbish at posting... I'm in my final year of school and stress levels for mock exams are high whilst I'm preparing for 2 music exams and trying to have some kind of a social life. Let us just move on because I have more important matters to blog about... Mockingjay comes out in 8 freaking days and I am beyond myself with excitement after watching the trailer about a bigillion times.

I could write for hours about the super amazing books that are now my favourite trilogy EVER and how happy I was about how they shot the films and how annoyed I was at the ending of Catching Fire. But none of that matters now because I have found the answer to everything for all Hunger Games fans...

Mockingjay Pocket Watch

A Mockingjay pocket watch.

Bet you weren't expecting that.

This is literally the best hunger games merch I've ever seen but please let me know if you can better it! I seriously want to make pocket watches a 'thing' and I'm going to have to bye this just so I can feel professional whenever anyone asks the time and I can just whip it out of my pocket. I'll be so cool.

Anyway, that's enough waffling about a watch...

How excited are you all for the film to come out or are you not a fan of the games?? Please do let me know in the comments below:)))

I've got a whole Pinterest board dedicated to Hunger Games and we all know how much us bloggers love a good Pinterest sesh so be sure to follow me HEEEREE

You can also bye this amazing watch creation from HERE (you're welcome in advance)

I love writing these little easy-read posts, let me know what you think in the comments below^_^

I better get back to revising now:'((

Leeds Den Festival!

So yesterday I went den building in Leeds. My life is one big artsy adventure...

Woof
How cool is this guy's scooter, an inspiration really;)

And here's our creation, THE FLOWER PALACE^_^...

It takes a lot of concentration to make an awesome flower
VoilĂ !

Obviously a real working kettle...
Just making eggs brb

Hope you're all appreciating the picture (my best work)

All of the dens were AMAZING! I can't believe how much fun I had sticking bits of cardboard together and making tissue paper flowers all day.

Our den wasn't structurally that great I mean we don't even have a roof for goodness sake! But our interior is top notch wonderfulness even if I do say so myself. (modest)

It was so warm and sunny as well on Sunday, I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if it was chucking it down with rain... The cardboard would have got very damp and soggy.

A woman said to me that she didn't think about anything else in her life, just making her den as best as it could be. She's absolutely right, I felt escaped from everything and, to be honest, I could have happily lived in that little den village forever! (if there was WIFI, let's be real people)

To top off this Sunday, we only managed to win one of the 4 prizes for best den! We won a gift voucher, woop!^_^

The den village is staying up for a couple of days so if you're in Leeds then I would highly recommend popping into the Tetley Gallery and having a look:))

I hope you liked this unusual post! From the pictures, what den is your favourite? (excluding ours because obvs it was the best;)) Have you ever made a den?!
