Currently I'm...

Hi everyone! Today I thought I'd try the "currently I'm..." tag sort of thing. I got this from a lovely blogger called Cat who you can check out  here. I think it's a really cute, fun idea and means I can share with you guys what I'm doing at the moment! So off we go...

Taken a few months ago but thought this post needed some pictures:D
Reading
I'm currently reading Bill Brysons autobiography. No particular reason other than it was on the bookshelf, and I hadn't read it. I've nearly finished the book and I can say it's probably one of the best autobiography's out there. I think it's just the page turning humour that does it for me but his writing style means not only does it appeal to adults, but teenagers as well. I've also been loving Eva Ibbotson's Dragonfly Pool, it's just an amazing book about a girl going off to boarding school. Put it on your read list, it's great!

Watching
At the moment I'm watching an old series called Daria. It's an Ameriacan teenage cartoon about this very sarcastic girl in high school, it's super funny. I got into it from Netflix after just finishing IT crowd ( a brilliantly British comedy) and I needed a new series to watch. Definitely check it out, I've never heard about it before or know anyone who watches it so let me know in the comments below if any of you guys have ever seen it.

Listening To
Treasure by Bruno Mars and Dear Darlin' by Olly Murs. Loving both of those songs at the moment!

Drinking
McDonalds Mango and Pineapple smoothies! Seriously, I think these are delicious, I'd much rather have a smoothie or glass of juice than a can of Coke in this hot weather:)

Loving
My new hair colour! I dyed my hair a mahogany colour a few days ago and I'm in love with it. I was a bit precarious at first as I was unsure about how it would come out on my natural dark brown hair. So I got a 28 washes dye and hoped for the best:) and horray, it all went well and I've found love with the colour.

Enjoying
Painting my nails. Every day it seems I'm painting them a different colour since it's the summer, I don't know, I think I'm going through a phase of pastelly, vibranty colours at the moment. Right now I have a lovely mint colour on them and on my toes I have a bright blue.

Learning
Well it's the summer holidays so no school means not much learning;) But a disastrous trip to the beach taught me that there are poisonous fish in the sea called weaver fish that sting you if you stand on them (from my sister stepping on one). Hmm what else... Oh and to not try and run in flip flops.

Wearing
Different coloured checked shirts, it's summer! I'm going through another phase, a shirt phase... I've always liked them but it seems this summer that my wardrobe is full of checks! It could be the fact that they're so cheap at Primark or it could be that I just fancy myself as a little farmer girl (sorry for the stereotype). Whatever it is, that's what I'm wearing.

Hope you guys enjoyed that:) I might make this a monthly feature, opinions? Let me know what you're up to in the comments below.

Wildlife "paddling pools"

In England it is summer time, and for once, it's warm and sunny! We British don't get a lot of this. There's even a mini heatwave going on in Yorkshire at the moment! Because of the heat, my little sister thought of building a mini wildlife "paddling pool" in our garden. Being the big sister, I got asked to help and after lots of please and puppy eyes, I succumbed.

It was actually, to my suprise, quite fun!

First of all we found a suitable height and depth box or tub, not too high so that the wildlife can't reach to get a drink or risk drowning, not too shallow so that the water doesn't just evaporate.

Next, we filled to tub up with water. Note: This is best done with an outside tap as filling a flimsy tub right to the top over the kitchen sink results in mass spiliges. We learnt this from experience.

Then, we scavanged for rocks around our little back road.
Once you have all of your building materials, sticks, flower petals, leaves etc. It's time to assemble, exciting times!

Make it look extra pretty, we made a leaf and twig shelter as well as a nice relaxation area for any tired critters... My little sister also had the caring thought of building little stairs for any drowning flys to be able to easily climb out. I just went along with that one...

And then you're done, Horray!
Have any of you guys ever made wildlife pools? Take a picture of yours and use #miyyiwildlifepools on twitter and instagram so I can take a look too!

Playing Music in Front of an Audience

Me and my sister are members of Horsforth music centre which runs every Saturday morning during term time. I play the violin, double bass, keyboard and the recorder, my little sister Poppy plays the violin, piano and also the recorder. So as you can probably imagine, music centre is right up our street and we love going! Classes range from "learn to play saxophone" to "try out flamenco dancing".

Double bass solo by me:)

Music centre unfortunately finishes in May, but at the end of the year, every class is welcome to perform in a little concert. This time we had a fun picnic concert which consists of everyone bringing a picnic into the building and eating it whilst listening to all of the music and performances. We were supposed to have this concert before we broke up for Easter, however, it snowed, so we didn't. But do not fear, we rescheduled this concert to the end of the year and boy was it a music making, dancing, singing blast!

I think it's so important for musicians to play in bands and orchestras as it develops different skills needed to become a better player, whatever the instrument. It helps you to listen to other parts and instruments, learn to keep in time with everyone and how to follow a conductor (which is harder than it looks!)

Sorry about the poor editing and fuzzy camera, my bad, sorry.
Also performing to an audience, helps to boost your confidence and gives you something to work towards, this helps you to get ready for future music exams. It doesn't matter how big or small the audience is, it could be to your mum in the living room, to your family and friends at a party or it could be performing to thousands at the Royal Albert Hall... I think it's a great way to show off what you can do!

Cute smile there;)
So all in all the concert was very enjoyable, with friends who came to watch clapping along and enjoying themselves, which is what I call a success!

Do any of you guys play an instrument, if so let me know in the comments:)

Trampolining

I like to fly through the air. I dive for City of Leeds Diving Club and enjoy that a lot. But I don't have a diving pool at home, instead, I have two trampolines which I LOVE especially on sunny days. I also trampoline for Leeds but diving has sort of taken over for a little while, so unfortunately I don't go to training as often as I should...

But at home I'm on the trampoline at least once a day (unless it rains...) practising tricks, hanging out with friends, making up dances with my sister, and, it's a very warm and sunny spot for a bit of sunbathing.

It's a great way to stay fit, it really does strengthen your abs as you bounce and flip and twist.

Most adults when they see me doing all these "scary" tricks flinch and close there eyes as they're petrified I'll fall off or land on my head. I can see where they're coming from really, I haven't got a net on my trampoline which makes it quite easy to fly off.

But I think having a net on a trampoline would make my trampolining more dangerous. Why? Because imagine I'm doing a backflip, catch my foot on the netting, get stuck and land on my face. Ouch.

There have been times where I've hurt myself. Double backflipping onto my head resulting in hospital appointments and ostiopath visits. Busting my lip REALLY bad after backflipping off of the metal railings of the trampoline on to the grass. Need I go on?

Does this phase me? The answer is no because I love the feeling of trying something new and accomplishing it even if it does result in me landing on my face the first time I do it.

This is the same  for all things. Just because you did something rubbish or hurt yourself the first time, don't let that stop you from keeping at it and try, trying again. You never know it could be amazing!

Let me know in the comments...
Do you have a trampoline? If so, what tricks can you do? Did you enjoy reading this post? Have you ever tried diving?

Pros and Cons of Having Short Hair...

So I'm a girl who happens to have short hair, here's 3 positives and 3
negatives about it, enjoy:)...
Before...
After!
 Pros First
1) It's SO easy to wash and blowdry. Hair all done in 20 mins:)

2) Doesn't blow all in your face on a windy day, YAY! This is one of the reasons I cut it all off in the first place, but that's for another post;)

3) I don't have to worry about knots. One brush with my tangle teaser and I'm ready to rock and roll...

Cons...
1) In my school uniform, I do look a bit like a boy. This isn't great.

2) There aren't many ways to style my hair. The way it's cut at the time, is the way it looks from that way forward.

3) "STICKY UP FLICKS", is what I like to call the little blighter bits of hair that just won't flatten. I look like a porcupine at times...

Girls, do any of you have short hair, what are your pros and cons? Do you get "sticky up flicks", with longer hair? What colour are your tangle teasers?

Collection 2000 White Nail Polish

So yesterday I decided that I wanted little French tip nails with just a pinky base for a Christening that I went to today. To do the tips, I used Collection 2000 French white nail polish and it worked a dream!
I had to write on the 2000 as whilst I was attempting to clean excess nail polish from the bottle,  the 2000 rubbed off, my bad...
I find it quite hard to do tips by hand but this nail polish is perfect for the job as you don't feel like it needs a second coat, which is quite surprising since this is a white colour.
Also the applicator brush, even though it's not specifically for doing tips was still quite easy to use, even when attempting my right hand. Although I did have to only use tiny drops of nail polish at a time.
With a top coat, I'm proud to say, my nails have no chips in them whatsoever! Hooray!
I used Frenchlook Rose as my base coat if you were wondering:)
So in conclusion... I'm happy with Collection 2000 and I'm definitely going to buy some more of their nail polish:)
